ETFE awning Perron 4 Tilburg
Buitink Technology realised the engineering, delivery and assembly of the ETFE foil covering at Platform 4 of the bus station at Tilburg Central Station.
For this project, a roof construction of single-layered stretched ETFE foil was deliberately chosen. This innovative material offers numerous advantages: it is self-cleaning, extremely durable, transparent and ensures beautiful light diffusion. Moreover, ETFE foil is extremely lightweight, making it an ideal solution for canopies like this one.
Construction and technology of the ETFE canopy
To make the structure resistant to wind suction and snow loads, the ETFE membranes are reinforced with stainless steel cable systems. These stainless steel cables are subtly concealed in so-called pockets within the ETFE membrane, providing both strength and a sleek visual result.
The ETFE roof covers a total area of about 203 m² and contributes to a modern, bright and sustainable appearance of the bus station in Tilburg.
