Mobile retaining wall for swimming pools

Buitink Technology develops, produces and installs vertical mobile bulkheads for swimming pools.

A mobile retaining wall from Buitink Technology consists of a flexible panel of 33,5 cm thickness made of special, very strong foil. This panel is filled with water after it has been installed at the desired location in the swimming pool. The bottom side is reinforced with elements of stainless steel 316L. By filling the flexible bulkhead with water and putting it under overpressure, it becomes a rigid panel that clamps itself firmly between the pool walls on the left and right. The bulkhead divides the pool into two or more parts and swimmers can rest against it when turning around.

Advantages and key features

The vertical mobile retaining wall of Buitink Technology has some important characteristics:

  • It is installed without damaging the pool and leaves the pool in its current state (no drilling, screwing, etc. necessary! The system clamps itself);
  • Extends across the entire width of the pool (e.g. 12 metres);
  • Divides a bath into two or more parts;
  • Is sturdy enough for a swimmer to bounce off it when performing a turning point;
  • Can be easily dismantled or moved;
  • It can be folded and stored very compactly, and thus delivered and transported to locations all over the world at low cost;
  • Can withstand water and chlorine;
  • Is easy to clean;
  • Can be folded and stored very compactly when not in use.

FAQ Flexible pool bulkheads

What width can the retaining wall be supplied in?

We can produce the bulkhead in various sizes for all types of pools of various dimensions. From a relatively small recreational or home pool to larger sports fund pools.

Does a retaining wall have a detrimental effect on the water change?

Does a retaining wall have a negative effect on the water exchange? Because the retaining wall does not reach all the way to the bottom and does not rest on the pool floor, there is room for water to pass underneath the retaining wall. This allows the water to be refreshed on both sides of the retaining wall as stipulated in the original water quality plan.

Can you really push off against the retaining wall without it shifting?

The retaining wall is a large underwater body that is pressurised by filling it with water. In practice, this gives so much counter pressure that you can push against it under water as if it were a fixed wall.

To be able to quickly divide a swimming pool into different segments, is such a diaphragm wall useful?

Because of the special way in which the pool wall is brought into position, it is possible to move the pool wall quite quickly with two people. Even if you don't want to use it for a while, the pool wall can easily be parked at the front or the back of the pool. The pool wall can be folded and stored compactly.

How far does the flood wall extend above the waterline?

Because of the special way of mounting, we can determine together with the swimming pool manager or instructors how high the retaining wall will rise above the water line.

Is the retaining wall resistant to swimming pool water for a long time?

Because the retaining wall is made entirely of carefully selected materials, we can guarantee that the chlorinated environment will not have a detrimental effect on its lifespan. The welded seams and material connections are also long-lasting and resistant to these conditions.

We would like to apply our logo to the retaining wall, is that possible?

By working with patches in different colours of pool liner, we can apply a text or logo to the pool wall. Ask our sales department about the various possibilities.

Can the reversing wall also be used in our monumental swimming pool, where we are not allowed to screw or drill?

That is not a problem at all, because precisely because our flood wall is designed so that no special assembly tools are required for installation, it is suitable for use in modern swimming complexes to monumental buildings.

Is special water needed for filling the retaining wall?

A simple pump can be used to pump water from the pool into the Pool Reversing Wall. The Bulkhead will remain filled until it is removed from the pool and stored temporarily at another location.

Can lines also be attached to the retaining wall?

In order to create lanes with drift lines, the bulkhead can be fitted with mounting eyes to make it easy to connect and disconnect these lines. In this way the pool can be divided into sections and lanes for different types of lessons and training.
