Vacancy project engineer

We are looking for an:

Project engineer at Buitink Technology Romania

Due to the growth of our company, we are looking for a project engineer / work planner / draughtsman.

Where will you be working?

Buitink Technology is a dynamic, innovative and growing company that handles the development, production and assembly of products made of canvas, foils and technical textile. These include air cushion roofs, art objects, textile facades, lifting cushions, tension ceilings, bellows, covers, stretch tents, canopies and much more.

Our company in Duiven employs around 30 permanent staff, supplemented by agency staff and several interns. Approximately 70% of the products we make are exported (indirectly) all over the world.

Your place of employment is Buitink Technology Romania SRL in Brasov, Romania. This is a production site of Buitink Technology in the Netherlands, where about 4 people are employed.

From Brasov, you will work on numerous requests and technical assignments on behalf of the Dutch branch. At the start of the employment, you will be trained and educated in the Netherlands (approx. 4-6 weeks), after which you will be able to work independently at our location in Brasov (and keep in touch with your Dutch colleagues using Microsoft Teams / Zoom). You will return to the Netherlands regularly (4-6 times a year) to spend time ‘live’ with your team and to receive further training.

At our company, customer-orientation, quality-orientation, service-orientation, independence, proactive action and initiative are core competences. Our way of working together is to put our shoulders to the wheel and do what we have agreed to do, with the customer as the central focus.

3. What will your job look like?

You will be working as part of an enthusiastic and driven team of five colleagues (four of whom in the Netherlands), in which you will have your own projects, tasks and responsibilities.

3.1 Draughting and work preparation

You are responsible for the draughting and work preparation of the projects and assignments assigned to you.

In addition, you make a Bill of Materials (BOM).

3.2 Elaboration of quotation requests

In addition, you support your colleagues in the development of quotation requests.

The majority of the assignments we carry out are custom work. Prior to this, we usually receive a problem from the (potential) client for which a solution is requested. This can be a simple question, such as a tarpaulin for over a machine, or a complex question/problem, such as sealing an underwater tunnel system with an inflatable valve that must be able to withstand considerable counter-pressure.

The customer’s request must be translated into a solution and worked out in diagrams. With the right technical knowledge, a dose of common sense, creativity and the support of your colleagues, you will independently come up with a well-elaborated solution.

3.3 Engineering, design and consultancy

We do not prepare all requests for quotations without obligation and free of charge. In some cases, preparing a quotation or creating a design takes a lot of time or requires our specific technical knowledge. Or we must buy in knowledge to be able to work out a solution to a problem. In that case, we regularly carry out a paid engineering and design process.

Examples can be found on our website:

Engineering & consultancy

You are able to handle such a project from beginning to end: problem > concept > design > solution > reporting. You are also able to obtain knowledge from third parties if you do not have this in-house.

3.4 Participating in the production

Within our company, we consider good communication, understanding and respect for each other’s work and the exchange of information to be of crucial importance. It is partly for this reason that we have adopted the principle that all team members of the business office work in production for one day every two weeks.

This not only improves the communication but has even more positive effects:

  • You learn a great deal about the profession and detailing, which you can in turn use to make good working drawings;
  • The threshold for communicating with each other and calling each other to account for their behaviour becomes much lower;
  • You understand better how work is carried out in production and how a drawing is read and what information is important to include in the drawing;
  • You gain insight into how long it takes to make products, which is important, for example, for making calculations and planning;
  • This creates mutual respect;

4. Your profile

  • You have a higher vocational education (HBO) work and thinking level;
  • You have completed a technical HBO education, for example, industrial product development, mechanical engineering, civil engineering or construction;
  • You are precise, structured and meticulous;
  • You are a technical talent;
  • You are bold and you work independently;
  • You are good at (3D) draughting (in Rhino);
  • You speak and write well in English;
  • You take ownership of your tasks and take responsibility for your role;
  • You function well in a team;
  • You have good communication skills;
  • You like structure and overview and you work in a structured way.

5. What do we offer?

We offer a fun, varied job at a dynamic and innovative company with good primary and secondary benefits and room for personal development.

This is a full time job, from Monday to Friday, from 8:00 to 17:00.
